Description

A dense all-over diamond lattice runs across the full field in ivory-white and cool steel-grey, with burnt terracotta-rust bleeding through from beneath in irregular clouds that pool most heavily at the perimeter and fade toward the centre. The close-up confirms a low, tightly compressed pile with a matte, slightly coarse wool surface. No border. The terracotta edge reads as a frame the field generates itself. Made in India.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Ember · the asked & answered
The terracotta bleeding effect looks irregular. Is the colour distribution consistent between rugs?

The general distribution, heaviest at the perimeter fading toward the centre, is consistent across production. Because this is hand-knotted wool with a tie-and-dye process, the exact shape and density of the terracotta pooling shifts slightly between individual pieces. The overall character and colour balance stay true to the design.

This rug has no traditional border. How does it sit in a room without a defined edge?

The terracotta perimeter acts as a natural frame, giving the rug visual containment without a formal border structure. On concrete, stone, or light wood floors, the darker edge reads clearly against the floor surface and anchors the rug in the space. A rug pad underneath defines the edge further.

How does an all-wool matte surface perform in a living room with regular daily use?

All-wool construction at low pile height handles daily foot traffic well. The compressed pile resists flattening and the matte surface distributes wear evenly, so traffic paths do not become visually obvious over time. Weekly low-suction vacuuming keeps the wool fibers clear and maintains the surface quality.
