Description

Warm camel-beige covers the field in an open, bilaterally symmetrical botanical layout. Motifs draw from classical Persian vocabulary: paired birds, scrolling vines, and rosette forms, all rendered in dusty slate-blue and terracotta-copper against the pale ground. Horizontal abrash runs visibly through the field, shifting the camel tone in uneven bands across the surface.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Bring the room into the rug - never the other way around.

A rug is sized to read once, in full, as you walk past it. The longer sizes tell a different story across a whole room.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Dusk · the asked & answered
How does the abrash in this rug develop over time with use?

Abrash is built into the wool during dyeing, not applied after. It does not fade or even out with use. The tonal variation across the field stays as part of the rug's structure, becoming more familiar rather than less visible over time.

What size works best for this rug in a living or drawing room?

A 9x12 works well for most living room configurations, allowing a full seating group to anchor on the surface. For larger drawing rooms or open-plan spaces, the 10x14 gives the bilateral design room to read fully from a standing distance.

Does the pale camel-beige ground show dirt easily, and how should it be maintained?

Lighter grounds do show dry debris more readily than dark fields. Regular low-suction vacuuming, at least once a week in used rooms, keeps the surface clean. Blot any spills immediately with a dry cloth. Annual professional cleaning maintains the wool and silk fiber quality.
