Description

The medallion outlines appear in terracotta-red against a grey field. Does that contrast read as bold in a room?

Less than the images suggest. The abrash in the grey ground and the softness of the medallion edges reduce the visual weight of the red outlines considerably. In a room context, the red reads as a drawing line rather than a color statement, particularly against warm wood floors or stone surfaces.

This rug has a large-scale medallion. What room size and furniture arrangement suits it best?

A 9x12 or 10x14 gives the medallion structure enough space to read as a full composition from a standing position. In a living room, centering the medallion under a coffee table with seating arranged symmetrically around it works well. The dissolved edges of the medallion mean furniture partially covering it does not interrupt the design.

How does the wool and silk surface hold up with regular vacuuming on a pale grey ground?
