Description

Deep navy pools at the centre of this rug, bleeding outward into teal and seafoam through horizontal striations that run the full width of the field. The transition carries no hard edge. Closer, the pile reveals flecks of grey-white and bright teal scattered through the indigo ground, giving the surface a dense, mineral quality. Made in India

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Does hand-knotted wool hold saturated colour well over years of use?

Wool absorbs dye deeply into the fibre, so saturated colours like navy and teal remain stable under regular foot traffic. The matte finish here means no surface sheen to wear away; colour reads consistently as the pile compresses over time.

What size works for a living room where the rug needs to anchor a full seating group?

For a sofa and two chairs arranged around a coffee table, a 9x12 allows all front legs to sit on the rug comfortably. A 10x14 suits larger rooms where the full furniture group, including side tables, sits within the field.

How should this rug be maintained to keep the surface looking even?

Vacuum on low suction without a beater bar, moving in the direction of the pile. Rotate the rug every 12 months so foot traffic distributes evenly across the surface. For spills, blot immediately with a clean cloth and allow to air dry fully before replacing furniture.
