The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

How does a near-black field with a matching border hold up visually over years of use?

Deep-dyed wool maintains its color through the full pile depth, so gradual surface wear does not expose lighter fiber beneath. The hand-knotted construction keeps the surface stable, and the near-black tone reads consistently whether the rug is new or has been in use for years.

Does the density of the all-over pattern make sizing more or less critical than with a medallion design?

All-over designs are more forgiving of sizing because the repeat reads at any scale and from any sightline. The 9x12 works well in a living room with two sofas flanking the surface. The 10x14 suits larger drawing rooms where more of the full botanical repeat is visible from the main seating position.

Is medium-low pile practical for a room with furniture that moves regularly, such as a dining room?

Medium-low pile handles chair movement and regular foot traffic well. It resists compression better than higher pile and recovers quickly. The hand-knotted structure means individual knots absorb repeated contact without the surface shifting or developing worn tracks over time.
