Description

Deep brick-red, fully saturated and consistent across the field, carries a curvilinear all-over floral and vine composition in warm gold, sage green, pale blue, and dusty rose. Large open floral roundels distribute without a central anchor, the vine connecting them in continuous flowing curves. An ink-navy border with its own dense botanical repeat frames the field with strong tonal contrast. The pile reads full and dense from the rolled edge.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Bring the room into the rug - never the other way around.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Crimson · the asked & answered
How does a fully saturated red field interact with strong furniture colors like orange or green?

The lifestyle placement shows this directly: saturated orange upholstery and a deep green chair sit alongside the red field without conflict because the rug's gold and sage tones are already present in those furniture colors. When the rug's palette includes the tones present in the room's furniture, strong color combinations read as considered rather than competing.

What size suits a living room where the rug anchors a curved or modular sofa arrangement?

For a modular sofa arrangement, a size of 9x12 or 10x14 ensures the full floral field is visible beyond the furniture perimeter. The curvilinear all-over pattern benefits from being seen beyond the furniture edges, so sizing generously allows the design to read across the full room rather than disappearing beneath the seating group.

How does this wool construction perform in terms of colour retention over years of daily use?

Wool accepts dye at the fibre level, so the brick-red ground and warm gold tones sit within the fibre rather than on its surface. These saturated tones remain stable under normal indoor conditions with routine care. Avoiding prolonged direct sun exposure and rotating the rug annually for even wear are the primary factors in maintaining consistent colour across the field over time.
