Description

Deep cobalt and sky-blue lines trace irregular paths across a pale linen-beige ground, with amber-gold filaments running between them. The close-up reveals the hi-low construction clearly: silk carries the blue at a higher pile, wool holds the open beige field flat and dense beneath it. No border contains the design.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Bring the room into the rug - never the other way around.

A rug is sized to read once, in full, as you walk past it. The longer sizes tell a different story across a whole room.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Cobaltline · the asked & answered
Does the raised silk pile snag or flatten where furniture legs sit on it?

Silk at the higher pile can compress under heavy furniture over time. Using furniture coasters distributes weight and prevents permanent pile compression. Rotating the rug every 12 months also moves pressure points away from fixed positions.

What floor and furniture combinations work best with this pale beige and cobalt design?

The pale linen-beige ground reads well on polished concrete, large-format stone tile, or light marble floors. Dark-framed or walnut furniture lets the cobalt carry without visual competition. The 10x14 gives the sweeping line composition enough room to read fully.

The cobalt passages are silk. Does silk hold color well over time?

Silk holds dye with high stability and resists fading under normal indoor conditions. Direct and prolonged sunlight is the main risk; the rug performs best in rooms where harsh UV exposure is limited or filtered through glazing.
