Description

A dense charcoal-black mass anchors the upper-centre field, its edges dissolving into pale silver-grey through a gradual stippled transition. Candy-pink marks scatter across the grey ground above and around the dark mass, each one small and isolated. The lower field withdraws into a quiet, near-plain silver-grey that the dark zone has not reached.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Does the large charcoal-black mass show lint or pale dust more visibly than the surrounding grey ground?

Dark zones in wool-silk rugs do attract visible lint more readily than mid-toned grounds. Regular low-suction vacuuming keeps the dark mass clean between professional cleans. A lint roller used carefully on the charcoal area between vacuuming sessions also keeps it looking consistent without stressing the pile.

How does the grey and pink palette work with warm walnut wood and concrete in the same room?
