▸ celador
Celadon green, dusty blush, pale teal, and warm brown scatter across a mid-grey wool ground, divided by near-black lines into large irregular cells. The cells do not hold clean color. Each one carries its tones in broken, fragmented clusters, so the surface reads as eroded rather than painted. Silk lifts the cooler passages above the wool at varying heights.
PLATE II — OF VIII▸ CeladorThe red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.
