Description

Deep navy and bright cobalt-blue press in from the perimeter, surrounding a central mass of crimson-red, warm walnut-brown, pale cream, and dusty grey that occupies the heart of the field. The centre carries its own internal density: six colours working against each other in a tightly compressed zone with no single one taking full control.

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

How does the centrally focused composition work under a seating arrangement with a coffee table over the centre?

The central colour mass reads most fully from a standing position or when the furniture is arranged around rather than over it. A glass or low-profile coffee table allows the centre to remain visible. The 10x14 gives the most room for a full U-shaped seating arrangement that frames the central zone without covering it.

With navy at the perimeter and multiple warm colours at the centre, does the rug work in a room with both cool and warm materials?

Yes, and this is where it performs best. The navy perimeter connects with steel, slate, and cool linen; the red and brown centre connects with walnut, leather, and warm plaster. The rug carries both temperature registers simultaneously, making it adaptable across mixed-material rooms without favoring one palette over the other.

Is the dense colour mixing in the centre zone difficult to clean if a spill lands there?

The multi-colour centre does not make cleaning more difficult; wool and silk fibers respond the same way regardless of colour. Blot spills immediately from the outer edge inward and avoid rubbing between the colour zones. For anything beyond a light liquid spill, professional cleaning is recommended to handle the dense multi-colour area without risk of spreading.
