Description

Warm sand and pale greige hold the ground, with dark espresso-brown lines moving across the surface in irregular, branching paths. The hi-low construction places silk above wool, so the pale ground catches differently from the dark vein lines. Close-up, the surface texture shifts between a fine, raised silk pile and a softer, lower wool field beneath it.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

How does the wool and real silk construction hold up under regular foot traffic?

Wool carries the structural load in this construction, forming the lower pile plane that absorbs pressure underfoot. Real silk sits above it and sees less direct compression. This division of function protects the silk over time. Avoid placing this rug in high-traffic corridors; it performs best in living and drawing rooms with moderate foot activity.

What sizes work best for the room types listed?

The 10x14 anchors a large living room where the full design, including the branching lines across the field, can be read from a distance. The 9x12 suits a standard seating group with front furniture legs on the surface. Custom sizing is available for rooms where the stone or tiled floor dictates specific placement.

Does real silk require any special care beyond regular vacuuming?

Silk is sensitive to moisture and abrasion. Vacuum on the lowest suction setting, moving in the direction of the pile rather than against it. Never rub spills; blot only. Avoid steam cleaning entirely. Annual professional cleaning by a specialist familiar with silk pile is strongly recommended to preserve the surface and the hi-low structure.
