Description

A pale silver-grey field carries a horizontal wave structure drawn in terracotta-rust and cobalt-blue, with both colors running in irregular, flowing lines across the surface. The centre reads as the lightest point; cobalt-blue and rust concentrate most heavily at the perimeter, thinning as they move inward. The close-up confirms a low, tightly compressed wool pile where the three colors sit interlocked at the fiber level. Made in India

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

This rug has no traditional pattern. How does an abstract, field-based design hold up visually in a furnished room?

The centre-to-edge tonal shift gives the rug strong visual structure without relying on motif or repeat. In a furnished room, the pale centre reads clearly beneath a coffee table, while the dark perimeter grounds the seating arrangement. The design becomes more legible as the room fills, not less.

What floor types and room palettes work best with this dark, mostly patternless surface?

Warm wood floors create a strong contrast with the dark field that works in the rug's favour. Raw plaster or off-white walls let the rug carry the room's only concentrated dark tone without competition. Rooms with leather, walnut, or concrete as secondary materials suit this surface well.
