Description

Sweeping curves in warm camel and pale sand move across the field in fluid, continuous arcs, parting around pools of cool grey-taupe and ash. The silk pile follows the pale ivory passages between the curves, catching where the ground opens. No border, no fixed orientation. The surface reads like cross-section through layered stone: internal, geological, formed over time.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Bring the room into the rug - never the other way around.

A rug is sized to read once, in full, as you walk past it. The longer sizes tell a different story across a whole room.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Arcstone · the asked & answered
How does the fluid, curve-based design hold its definition across the wool and silk pile over time?

The curved forms are knotted with precision at both pile levels, wool holding the deeper camel and grey zones and silk defining the pale ivory margins. Neither material compresses quickly under normal living room use. Rotating annually keeps the pile height even across the full field, preserving the definition of the curves.

This design has no fixed direction. Does it matter which way the rug is oriented in the room?

The composition distributes across the full field without a top or bottom, so orientation is flexible. Place the rug to allow the longest view of the curves from the main seating position. For the 10x14, a landscape orientation in a wide room gives the arcs the most space to read across their full length.

The ivory silk margins are prominent throughout the field. How should they be maintained?

The ivory silk passages show dust and fine debris more readily than the warmer camel zones. Vacuum regularly on low suction without a beater bar. For any spill landing on the pale silk margins, blot immediately with a dry cloth from the outer edge inward. Do not rub or apply liquid cleaners directly to the silk pile.
