Description

A deep navy field carries a large-scale botanical scroll of oversized rosettes, lobed leaf forms, and animal figures including lions and an elephant in warm gold, terracotta, dusty teal, crimson, and ivory. The vine runs loosely on the dark ground, and a central cypress-like form rises through the composition. The terracotta border holds a running floral repeat in ivory and pale blue. Medium pile reads dense and full in the close-up.

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

On an ivory ground the same forms read as part of a botanical scatter; here they carry individual weight.

What wall colors and furniture tones suit a deep navy botanical rug with a terracotta border?
